Non-Exemptible Registration Requirements


Registered Student Opticians

The following are non-exemptible (apply with no exceptions) registration requirements for a certificate of registration as a registered student optician:

  1. For applicants who DO NOT currently hold a certificate of registration as a student optician or equivalent certificate from another Canadian province:
    1. The applicant must be enrolled in an approved Ontario opticianry program or be in the process of completing additional training, as ordered by the Registration Committee of the College of Opticians.

  2. For applicants who DO currently hold a certificate of registration as a student optician or equivalent certificate from another Canadian province (i.e. applicants applying under Ontario’s labour mobility legislation):
    1. The applicant must provide one or more certificates or letters or other evidence satisfactory to the Registrar or a panel of the Registration Committee establishing that they are in good standing as a student optician in every jurisdiction where they hold an out-of-province certificate.
